力強さと共生の象徴とも言える、沖縄の森と海をつなぐ命、ヤシガニ。
ヤシガニが持つ「自然と共に生きるたくましさ」、そして「静かに積み重ねられてきた命の時間」。それは忙しく過ぎていく日々の中で、私たちがつい忘れてしまいがちなものです。ヤシガニの姿は、丁寧に時間を紡ぎ、一歩一歩、自分の足で歩んでいくことの大切さを、そっと思い出させてくれます。
沖縄の島々に生きるヤシガニは、海と森、昼と夜を行き来しながら、何十年もの時をかけてゆっくりと成長する、希少で神秘的な生きものです。古くから「豊かさ」や「守り神」「生命力」の象徴として、島の人々に大切にされてきました。厳しい自然の中でも折れず、自分らしく生き抜く力。自然と共にあることの尊さを、その姿そのものが体現しています。
そんなヤシガニをメインモチーフにしたヤシガニかりゆしは、沖縄の新緑の気配と、潮風を感じるようなデザインで、着る人をそっと自然の一部へと溶け込ませてくれます。
ボディカラーは、沖縄の光を優しく受け止めるパステル調の淡い色合い。そこにココナッツボタンをあしらうことで、島時間のゆったりとした感覚を纏える一着に仕上げました。第二・第三ボタンホールにはアクセントカラーを添え、ボタンの配置にわずかな変化を。気づいた人だけがふと感じる、小さな遊び心を忍ばせています。
前見頃の裾には、4色の刺繍から生まれたヤシガニを。デジタルアートを用いることで、まるでそこに佇んでいるかのような立体感のある表情に仕上げました。背面には、一本のヤシの木の刺繍を添え、その木陰からヤシガニが現れ、かりゆしの中を静かに歩いているかのような、物語を描いています。
ヤシガニは、本来、見る者を圧倒するほどの存在感を放つ生きもの。けれどもこの一着では、その力強さを残しながらも、沖縄の穏やかな海や空気感に馴染むよう、あえてアニメーションのような柔らかなタッチで表現しました。少しデフォルメすることで生まれる親しみと余白。自然をそのまま写し取るのではなく、日常の装いとして心地よく寄り添う形へと落とし込んでいます。
生地には、吸水速乾性に優れたクールマックス素材を使用。汗を素早く吸い上げ蒸散し、湿度の高い沖縄の夏でも、一日中さらりとした着心地を保ちます。蒸し暑い季節を心地よく過ごすための、頼れる夏の相棒です。
また、甚兵衛にも用いられるサッカー生地を活用。収縮率の異なる糸を組み合わせることで生まれる凹凸が、肌への接地面を減らし、軽やかな通気性を生み出します。一方向に走るストライプ状のシワが、装いに自然な表情と涼感を添えてくれます。
纏うことで感じる、内側から湧き上がる力強さと、静かな落ち着き。
自分の歩幅で、確かに生きる感覚を、思い出す。
沖縄の自然と物語を、そっと日常に忍ばせながら。

《 Product Story 》YASHIGANI
A symbol of strength and coexistence— the Yashigani, a life form that connects Okinawa’s forests and seas.
The Yashigani embodies the resilience of living in harmony with nature, and the quiet accumulation of time carried within a single life. In our fast-moving days, these are things we often forget. Its presence gently reminds us of the importance of walking steadily, one step at a time, by our own feet, while carefully weaving time together.
Living across Okinawa’s islands, the Yashigani moves between sea and forest, day and night, growing slowly over decades. It is a rare and almost mystical creature.
For generations, it has been cherished by island communities as a symbol of abundance, protection, and vitality. Unbroken even in harsh natural environments, it represents the strength of living true to oneself. Through its very existence, it teaches us the dignity of living alongside nature.
The Yashigani Kariyushi, inspired by this remarkable creature, is designed to evoke the freshness of Okinawa’s greenery and the gentle touch of the sea breeze— allowing the wearer to quietly blend into the natural world.
The body is dyed in soft, pastel tones that gently receive Okinawa’s sunlight. Coconut buttons add a relaxed, island-time feeling to the piece. Accent colors appear subtly in the second and third buttonholes, and slight variations in button placement introduce a quiet sense of playfulness— details noticed only by those who look closely.
At the hem of the front panel, a Yashigani is embroidered using four colors. Created through digital art, the embroidery has a three-dimensional presence, as if the creature were calmly standing right there. On the back, a single palm tree is embroidered— from whose shade the Yashigani seems to emerge, as if wandering gently within the shirt itself, creating a quiet narrative woven into the garment.
In reality, the Yashigani possesses an overwhelming presence. Yet for this piece, while preserving its strength, we chose a softer, animation-like expression that harmonizes with Okinawa’s calm seas and gentle air. Through subtle deformation, warmth and familiarity are born. Rather than replicating nature as it is, we translated it into a form that feels natural and comforting in everyday wear.
The fabric is made from COOLMAX®, known for its excellent moisture-wicking and quick-drying properties. It absorbs sweat efficiently and releases moisture, keeping the wearer dry and comfortable throughout the day— even in Okinawa’s humid summer climate. A dependable companion for the hottest seasons.
We also incorporate seersucker fabric, commonly used in jinbei garments. By combining yarns with different shrinkage rates, the fabric gains a textured surface that reduces contact with the skin, allowing air to flow freely. The natural, stripe-like wrinkles add both visual depth and a sense of coolness.
When worn, it brings a quiet strength rising from within, and a calm sense of composure.It helps you remember the feeling of living at your own pace—surely and steadily.
