沖縄市知花の地で生まれた花織は、一越一越、織り子の手によって模様を浮かび上がらせる、繊細で奥行きのある伝統的な織物です。縦方向に柄を立ち上げる「経浮(たてうき)花織」や、刺繍のように糸を織り込む「縫取(ぬいとり)花織」など、高度で根気のいる技法を用いながら、布の上に静かに表情を咲かせていきます。

糸を選び、柄を考え、織り進める。そのすべての工程に込められているのは、織り子が想いを込め、手を動かし続けてきた証。模様のひとつひとつには意味があり、祝いの気持ちや日々の願いが、静かに、美しく織り重ねられてきました。手仕事ならではの温もりと繊細な織りの輝き。それは、丁寧に生きることの美しさを教えてくれます。

《 Product Story 》Chibana Hanaori Short-Sleeve Kariyushi

A traditional Okinawan textile that symbolizes techniques passed down through generations and the quiet accumulation of time woven by human hands.

From selecting the threads to weaving and finishing the fabric, countless hours and careful hands are layered together. From this process emerges a beauty that feels grounded and enduring. Within everyday wear, it allows the climate of Okinawa and the time devoted to craftsmanship to be gently felt.

Chibana Hanaori, born in the Chibana area of Okinawa City, is a traditional textile known for its delicate depth. Each motif is raised stitch by stitch by the hands of skilled weavers, giving the fabric a subtle yet expressive texture.

Techniques such as Tate-uki Hanaori, where patterns rise vertically from the fabric, and Nuitori Hanaori, in which threads are woven in like embroidery, require patience, precision, and time. Every step—choosing the threads, designing the patterns, and weaving them carefully—reflects the weaver’s dedication. Each motif carries meaning, quietly embedding wishes for celebration, protection, and everyday well-being into the cloth. The warmth of handwork and the gentle shimmer of fine weaving remind us of the beauty found in living thoughtfully.
